We've just developed a new website for our client Material Lab – a materials resource studio for architects and designers in London. Having designed and developed the previous platform, we were excited to be involved once again.
Although this time, the site was designed by the creative team at Johnson Tiles – the UK's leading tile manufacturer and the people behind Mat Lab. Our client wanted something that better reflected the new direction of the brand, and also coincided with the revamped space on Great Titchfield Street (which will re-launch this August).
To populate the new website with complimentary content, we joined forces with photographer Tim Ainsworth, creative director of Johnson Tiles Darren Clanford, and Jim Biddulph – editor-in-chief at Material Lab – to craft a series of high-end imagery that highlights the range of materials available at the studio. We also drafted a range of fresh content for the blog, now entitled the Journal, as well as Material Lab's social media channels.
To further enhance Material Lab's content, we are now working to a quarterly theme, focusing on different angles to bring a wealth of ideas and inspiration to Mat Lab's audience. The first is based on 'Re-use / Re-life', where the studio explores products that recycle, regenerate or repurpose discarded or unwanted materials into something completely new.
After its launch in May, web traffic increased by 68% compared to the previous year and has continued to rise. Over the last two months, Material-lab.co.uk has enjoyed 156% more page views and – more importantly – has seen a significant increase in enquiries.
You can visit the new website at www.material-lab.co.uk.
