Material Lab is a London design resource studio where architects and designers can explore and be inspired by a huge range of materials.
Created especially by the UK’s leading tile manufacturer Johnson Tiles in 2006 in response to the needs of the A&D community, it's a place where inspiration and creativity go hand-in-hand, where you can immerse yourself in surface coverings of every kind.
Boomerang was appointed in 2011 to develop and manage a communications strategy for Material Lab and its partners – Formica, modulyss, Tektura Wallcoverings, Karndean Designflooring, Flowcreate, Dulux Trade and Vado – to help raise its profile, attract its audience and ultimately boost associated sales of materials.
What We Did
Working closely with the Material Lab team and various collaborators, we have built and maintained its entire communications, ensuring it successfully reaches the A&D community and boosts sales for its partners.
From brand management, content generation and digital marketing to media relations, social media, event support and website development – our integrated approach is designed to create a loyal and engaged community for the studio.
Over the last eight years, Boomerang's input has helped to increase sample requests significantly year-on-year, resulting in a record number of specifiers ordering materials through Material Lab.
In 2017 alone, we helped to increase traffic to Material Lab's website by 49%, grew its following on social media across all channels – doubling its audience on Instagram – and reached over 250,000 people in less than 12 months.
